Trade by country - Türkiye

Türkiye is characterised by a large domestic market, a diversified manufacturing base and a strategic geographical position at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa, making it a key economic player at the regional level. In 2025, its nominal GDP exceeded USD 1,565 billion, placing the country 16^th worldwide.

This study provides key insights to better understand the opportunities and challenges of the Turkish economy. The macroeconomic analysis is based on several essential indicators, including GDP trends, the consumer market and the budgetary framework, in order to offer an overall view of the economic context.

Linked to the European Union through a customs union for thirty years, Türkiye occupies an important position in trade relations with the EU. At the same time, the country is seeking to diversify its partnerships, particularly with regard to supplies.

Following the macroeconomic analysis, the study focuses on sectors offering attractive opportunities for our companies, namely the energy transition, defence and logistics.

This study was carried out by the Belgian Foreign Trade Agency, which, in collaboration with its partners, the Ministry of Defence, the Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs, the Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX), hub.brussels and Flanders Investment & Trade, organised a Belgian Economic Mission to Türkiye from 10 to 14 May 2026, under the presidency of Her Majesty the Queen.
